Counseling services for individuals, families, teens, and children
Madelynn Cuéllar, MA, LPC, LMFT, RPT™, NCC
Background + Experience
I received my Master of Arts in Professional Counseling and Marriage, Couples, and Family Counseling from Texas State in 2020 and my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Texas in Austin in 2017. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), a Registered Play Therapist (RPT™), and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). I have worked as a counselor to individuals, children, teens, and families recovering from trauma for the past 5 years in various agency and group practice settings. Although I work with a wide array of traumas across the lifespan, I have primarily focused on supporting clients recovering from immigration trauma, relational trauma, domestic violence, and sexual assault. I have lived briefly in Turkey and am proficient in Turkish.
About Me
Outside of therapy, I enjoy reading books, discovering new coffee shops, and going on hikes with my husband and our dog. I value spending quality time with loved ones as well as time to myself at home or in nature.
Approach to Counseling
I practice counseling from a trauma informed, culturally responsive, and somatically oriented lens. I view each individual as the expert of their experience, including children and teens, and collaborate with individuals and families to support meaningful change. I believe that we heal best when we can attune to our emotional and somatic experience of the present moment. I work from a relational model to create a secure place for processing the past and reorienting to the present and future.
My hope is for you and your family to feel safe and comfortable enough to bring your full selves into the counseling room. My clients experience a genuine relational warmth while also learning about the brain and body’s response to stress and trauma. This helps my clients feel secure enough to explore the difficult experiences in their life while also learning how to integrate and heal from their traumas.
You and I will work together to develop an understanding of how your lived experiences shape your orientation to safety and connectedness in the present. As you learn to attune to safety within the therapeutic relationship, my hope is that you will develop the inner resources you need to step more fully into your authentic self outside of counseling.

Why Salma?
Salma is a name that has its roots in Arabic but is used widely across cultures. Salma, with its linguistic connections to shalom and salam, means peace, safety, and well-being. Many of us struggle to feel a deep sense of peace and safety in the aftermath of a traumatic event, whether big or small. At Salma Psychotherapy, you and your family will find a place where you can heal from previously distressing or unsafe situations and reconnect with sense of peace, safety, and well-being.
